We are the first rescue-only veterinary hospital and have proven it is profitable and vital to the community. We gross more than $1M annually (even though we are low cost) and are extremely trusted all over Texas. Mazie’s is looking to expand our team and add another DVM. MENTORSHIP IS AVAILABLE, ESPECIALLY FOR SURGERY.

At Mazie’s Mission, we operate a fast-paced hospital environment that handles everything from routine wellness exams to critical care and surgical procedures. We're committed to providing top-quality care to every animal that comes through our doors—and we're looking for someone who shares that commitment.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a veterinarian in a clinical or hospital setting

  • Previous experience in a shelter environment is a plus

  • Must be comfortable around animals of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments—including fearful or anxious pets

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional care to our patients in the shelter or rescue system.

  • Have a deep desire to perform all types of surgeries, not just spay and neuter.

  • Provide guidance to the staff on hospitalized patients.

  • Administer care to the animals in the Mazie’s rescue program.

  • Counsel fosters and the directors of the rescue/shelter on diagnostics/treatments.

  • Provide care for hospitalized patients

  • A desire to be medical director in the future is a PLUS!!

Position Details:

  • Full-time: Four 10-hour shifts per week (WILL CONSIDER PART-TIME AT FIRST)

  • No weekend shifts

  • Compensation: $95,000 (new grad)- $145,000 (very experienced DVM)

  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off; paid holidays; reduced costs for resident pets; all dues paid (TVMA, AVMA, DEA), 2-week vacation first year
